August Newsletter

Hello, Everyone!

What a fantastic Stealth Stunt Clinic weekend we just had with our friends from Oklahoma! I want to thank everyone for devoting their weekend to helping the girls grow as a team, and progress in their stunting skills. EVERYONE went home with a better understanding of our expectations for the new season, and they all did an amazing job.

This week is CHOREOGRAPHY week! PLEASE make sure your cheerleader is on time (5 minutes before their scheduled practice), so that we can use the time we have set aside wisely. Once routines are completed, the next steps are to clean them up, and perfect the skills that your cheerleader is expected to perform for the first competitions. We encourage everyone to keep pushing their way up the “Progressions Posters” skill levels found on the wall of the cheer floor, so that we can keep pushing the limit with our difficulty in the routines!

Uniform Fittings Update—With the amazing recruitment that has been going on lately, we’ve had several new members joining (GO STEALTH!). Our uniform rep has suggested to wait another week before scheduling a fitting date, so be on the lookout in our Member’s News section of the website for more information on that when we have it. We are very excited about our new look, and can’t wait to see the finished product.

Lastly, we are pleased to announce that we are currently searching for 20 males, 14 years or older, to join Stealth All Stars! We are very lucky to have a generous benefactor who is willing to provide 20 tuition scholarships earmarked specifically for up to 20 males to help build “a solid base” for our program. These scholarships will be given out based on coach’s review, my recommendation, and finally Directors approval. Please understand that this generosity is based on a condition of anonymity. While the person must be physically capable, no prior cheer knowledge is required; we will teach all that is necessary! If you know of anyone who may be interested, please call or email me at michaelm@teamocfun.com. The free month’s tuition special will still apply for bringing in athletes whether on scholarship or not thru the end of august! We are very proud that we were able to achieve this new ability and now need your help to secure these new young athletes. Our TEAM is now over 90 strong and with your help we will continue to grow! Our aim is to try to provide for an ultimate goal of a Senior Co-Ed Level 5 Team both this year if possible and stabilized for future years. Again, we need your help in finding these athletes so: cousins, friends, neighbors (and friends of neighbor’s cousins!) are all fair game! Thanks for your continued support as we continue growing your STEALTH ALL STAR CHEER TEAM!!!

Have a great August! Keep coming in the gym, and working those skills! GO STEALTH!

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR:

Hello, Everyone! JULY IS HERE! Is it just me, or did June go by way too fast?! It seems like just yesterday we had over 80 cheerleaders in this facility for tryouts. A few trickled in through our recruitment promotion, and those members that brought them received one free month of tuition. Well done! However, we still want more! We have decided to push the promotion one more month (JULY 25th) to give all those that had end of the school year commitments the time to calm down, and come in to check us out! July 5th-9th would be PERFECT to schedule private tryouts. Please email me with the recruits contact information, so that I can set it up. The more athletes we have in the program, the more you’ll get out of your time here at Stealth! Think of the possibilities with carpools if you recruit kids from your neighborhood! Remember, we take bases, back spots, and flyers alike – from the very basic, to more advanced, and ages 3 ½ to 18! Go get ‘em!  Also, just a quick reminder that I'd love to get everyones video/picture footage from the tumbling clinic if you still have it on your phones! Please send them to my email. Thank you so much!

We are loving to see our athletes in the gym, and taking advantage of all we have to offer this summer. I encourage you to make the most of it! Have a fantastic and safe July 4th Holiday!

Michael May
michaelm@teamocfun.com

We’ve got a couple great things to make you aware of, so take note:

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE REMINDERS FOR JULY:

July 3rd- 11th:

NO TEAM PRACTICE/ADD ON CLASSES/TEAM STUNT CLASSES. This is our  scheduled vacation week for all Stealth Teams. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT REGULAR
TUMBLING CLASSES! All coaches and instructors will be in town, and would love to offer extra private lesson time. To set up a private, contact Michael at 714-444-1144 or michaelm@teamocfun.com.

July 14th/15th:

SUPER HERO DAY! Come dressed as your favorite super hero…Don’t have one? Make one up! Just make sure that whatever you wear can be worn or easily taken off for stunting and tumbling. Have fun with this!

July 17th :

STEALTH FAMILY BEACH DAY! Be looking for updates in the members section of the website as we get closer to this day.

July 21st/22nd:

UNIFORM FITTINGS! You MUST have your uniform paid for in full by the time your child gets fitted. They will need a copy of the receipt to hand in on their fitting day. We have a scheduled make-up day during the 1st week of August for the members that will be out of town, but you must notify Shannon ahead of time at shannonm@teamocfun.com.

July 31st-Aug 1st:

STUNT & PYRAMID CLINIC- It is mandatory that all members attend this clinic. We will be learning and perfect the stunts and pyramids for the season, and if one person misses, the whole team suffers. Please do all that you can to make this happen for them!

FIRST ANNUAL T-SHIRT CONTEST!
Submit your best design for a chance to be picked as this years program-wide competition t-shirt!

Rules of Contest:
1.) The design can be on the front and/or back of the shirt. If choosing one side, the front is preferred.
2.) The design MUST be “print ready”, meaning that we can make only some adjustments to the design.
3.) The maximum number of colors to be used on the T-Shirt is three (this includes black is you use it). Also, we ask that you specify colors exactly.
4.) The design MUST pertain to STEALTH ALL STARS and must have our name in it somewhere.
5.) Both free-hand and computer-generated designs are accepted. If computer generated, the design needs to be 300 dpi.

Email entries to shannonm@teamocfun.com. Entries must be turned in by JULY 31st so that all members can vote for their favorite design.

PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME TO PRACTICE!
As summer progresses, tardiness is becoming an issue. Please have the girls come in 5 minutes before practice starts with shoes on and hair up. Our practice outline is designed very strategically based on how much time each team practice is, and if it is slowed down to catch members up that are late, the team suffers by not having the time they need to work skills.
Also, this is a friendly reminder to email michaem@teamocfun.com if your child will be missing practice. We understand if there is a last-minute illness, but please try to give us as much notice as possible, so that we can rearrange our practice schedule due to missing teammates.

THE BELL IS RINGING!!
Even though school is out, we are still hearing those bells at cheer! Ask your child if they have rung the skill bell lately. Each time a member lands a new skill they get to ring the bell for everyone to stop what they are doing, and applaud their hard work! We encourage each cheerleader to work hard all summer long to not only perfect their skills, but to try new things. Our progression posters are displayed on the wall next to the cheer floor, so that everyone knows what they need to move on to after perfecting each skill.

SEND IN YOUR VACATION PICTURES!

While you're out having a blast on vacation, we want you to think of us! No need for a postcard, just send us a fun cheer pic! :)  Hit a High V, a Body Position (liberty, heelstretch, scale, scorpion, etc.), do a Jump, or whatever else makes you think of cheer in front of the wonderful background! Have fun! We miss you already! Email your pics to shannonm@teamocfun.com!

STEALTH SUMMER CHALLENGE
Many cheerleaders think that summer is the time to sit back, relax, and not worry about a thing… then by competition season, they will magically be able to get through a skill-packed routine, and actually make it look good! Sounds to good to be true, right?! IT IS!! Those that remain physically active on a daily basis throughout the entire year will not only benefit by being stronger cheerleaders, but they’ll also have a load of other benefits like lower stress, a boost in their mood, help with building healthy bones, muscles, and joints, help with having their heart and lungs work better, and improved self esteem! Pretty good package if I do say so myself!

The STEALTH Summer Challenge is designed to encourage EVERY member to stay focused this summer, and get ready for an amazing cheer season! We truly care about the well-being of each athlete, and want to make sure that every member is in top physical shape to lower the risk of injury, and to live happier, healthier lifestyles. Check out the website to learn more about the challenge!

Here’s some helpful tips from your coaches for the month-

Michael- What’s your motivation? Work on goal setting, and be sure to set realistic weekly and monthly goals to constantly see improvement. The “Progressions” posters on the floor will help guide you on the right path!
Didi- Stretching helps EVERYONE- not just flyers. STRETCH EVERY DAY!
Brandon- CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION! 2 or 3 practices a week can only do so much. Work on incorporating cardio and strength training outside of practice to maximize your skill building ability.
Shannon- Drink lots of water!! Hydration is so important because it makes up 50%-60% of our bodies, regulates body temperature, helps with our breathing, transports nutrients, carries away waste and helps our muscles function. Feel free to bring your water bottles to practice, and get in the habit of drinking it regularly!
Sam- Plan ahead! If you have to come straight from school or any other activity, be sure to pack a healthy snack (banana or a granola bar) to spark your energy for practice!

See you in the gym… GO STEALTH!

Hello again Stealth Parents and athletes!

What an amazing weekend we just had with our end of the year Show-Off Event! I want to start out by saying how proud I am of all of our cheer athletes for the awesome performance we had. It makes the entire staff so excited knowing that our kids put together such a jam packed routine in a little more than 4 practices. It truly is an honor to be able to work with such talented kids.

Over the past two weeks we have also introduced 2 new all star coaches, Coach Didi and Coach Brandon. They are amazing coaches, and we are very grateful to have them here. Brandon and Didi both hope to make this the strongest program it has ever been as well as make each and every one of your kids the best athlete they can be. Please feel free to stop them and introduce yourself if you have yet to have the pleasure.

Don’t forget we have tryouts quickly approaching (May 22nd and 23rd). We are getting emails and phone calls daily about signing up for this year’s up and coming Stealth All Star Teams, and this is looking to be one of the best years Stealth has ever had. We also ask that if your child has an interested friend or class mate, bring them into tryouts, we have a team for every age and level.

Sincerely,

Michael May

icon04/01/2010 - APRIL NEWSLETTER -ISSUE 1

Hello Stealth Fans!

This is our first monthly newsletter!  Our plan here at Team OC/Stealth is to do our best to keep the lines of communication as open as possible.  We will be posting a new monthly newsletter on the first of each month so be sure to check out each issue.  I want to start out by saying that we are very grateful for your support.  The future is looking quite bright and we are extremely excited to be here working with the each and every one of you athletes.

We have been asked a few times, “What exactly is a ‘Showoff’?”  This portion of the May 2nd event is your athlete’s time to show you what they can do!  This is a time in which the kids can get in front of parents and friends and “show off” a little bit of tumbling, as well as a few stunts that they have learned in the last few weeks or will learn in the next month.  This is a NO STRESS event designed to ring in the new Stealth, and allow the kids to have fun.  The showoff portion will be first, followed by recognition of our athletes and then some great food, and lastly open gym (for the kids).

For those dads out there looking for a little bit of exercise and bonding with your daughter, we are taking names for those interested in being part of a “Dad and Daughter” stunt class.  We already have one couple working hard and getting better by the minute.  For more information or to sign up for the class email Michael (michaelm@teamocfun.com).

I would also like to say thank you to those families actively helping us to grow our program by participating in the “Bring a Friend” program. We have already signed up many new kids of all talent ranges!  Parents, you are an essential part in making this program great, and so far you all are doing a magnificent job. So with that in mind, we want to grow even more! If you know anyone who you think would enjoy Stealth Teams, or even if they would have fun in a once a week cheer tumbling class let them know about us, and let us know about them so we can offer them a free trial class!

Reminders:
-We are currently following the spring break schedule which can be found at www.stealthallstars.com

-We will go to our new schedule starting Monday April 12th, which can also be found at www.stealthallstars.com

-Add on classes as well as fast track tumbling will begin again on the 19th of April, just at different times. If you are interested in taking an add-on class, fast track tumbling, or any other class that we have please contact me.  We will begin signing up the week of the 12th. Times for the classes will be found at www.stealthallstars.com.

-The early registration discount for tryouts ends April 16th, so get signed up!
            -Don’t forget, Tryouts May 22nd and 23rd.

Team OC has programs for your little ones as well! We have everything from Mommy and Me movement classes to pre-dance classes available throughout the week in the morning times while our team members are in school. We also have boys gymnastics, power tumbling and trampoline, Ballet, Jazz and Tap dance classes. As well as, open gym for the 18 and over crowd on Wednesday evenings. So, feel free to stop by the front desk and check out all of the amazing opportunities.

If summer camp is what you are looking for TEAM OC has it all! Check out our website or stop by the front desk for more information! www.teamocfun.com . We have spring camp, summer camp with too many choices to try to explain it all here. Your kids ages 4 thru 14 will love every minute while being physical and having more fun than you can even imagine!

We are working on our summer schedule at this time. We will be holding two clinics here at Team OC. One will be for tumbling, and the other for overall cheer skills. We are looking at closing team practice for summer vacation from July 3rd thru July 11th and remaining open the balance of the summer. Summer is a most crucial time for cheer as that is when we focus intensely on achieving new skills and pushing ourselves to new heights, as well as learning skills that will be used for the Stealth All Star team routines.

As many of you have seen already, we have several OCC Cheer Team members here teaching classes or helping with spotting. These young adults have demonstrated their ability to be among the top performers in the country, and we are excited to have them here as class instructors. In addition, we are actively recruiting additional high level coaches to join our program. We firmly believe that the basis of our sport is technique in skills, and we need top level coaches to inspire and teach all of our athletes.  So with that in mind we have gone on an international (yes really international) campaign to find talent to help make Stealth the best it can be! Stay tuned as we promise to keep you informed of our progress along the way!

We would like to thank our General manager Denise P. for ALL for her support and hard work. If you don’t know Denise take a minute and get to know her, she’s always here and lives for your kids!!

Lastly, we just want each of you to know that we are having the time of our lives and we thank you for welcoming us with such open arms. We truly feel at home. We look forward to spending many seasons together with you, and we can’t wait to get out there on the competition floor with the new STEALTH ALL STARS!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Michael May
